We’ve seen companies putting wood into PC components before, but that usually involves PC cases, which made plenty of sense given that cases also serve as an aesthetic piece. GIGABYTE took the idea further and put two pieces of real wood into its X870E AERO X3D WOOD motherboard, along with some wood-colored accents on its leather pull tabs. Just like luxury cars, isn’t it?

The GIGABYTE X870E AERO X3D WOOD

Here’s how GIGABYTE justifies the inclusion of wood: β€œX870E AERO X3D WOOD whispers into your space like a gentle breeze bringing comfort and harmony. Its natural wood aesthetic evokes the warmth of home, transforming cold technology into something inviting belongs in your living room.” The motherboard maker specifically refers them as β€œAERO wood”, but it’s unclear if this is faux wood or real wood, which is never clarified on its product page (and it’s full of unnecessary AI jargons, we shall mention).

The only other part where it’s not all silver-and-white is the leather pull tabs located at the edge of the primary and the secondary SSD heatsinks. Based on the promotional images, it looks like there will be onboard lighting on the VRM section (under the wood trim), as well as under the secondary heatsink around the X870E chipset area. Beyond these features, it’s pretty similar to other high-end GIGABYTE motherboards (like this one), with 16+2+2 stage VRM (though at a modest 60A per stage), 3 PCIe slots, 4 SSD slots, and an assortment of I/O ports and headers throughout.

We haven’t seen anything suggesting that it’ll launch in Malaysia just yet, although as per Videocardz, Australian creator Gear Seekers has already got their hands on one such unit. One listing spotted in a Polish retailer suggested a price of around $500 with VAT included, suggesting that if it were to launch here, the price tag should land somewhere beyond the RM2,000 mark.

Updated @ 10/12 00:17 – GIGABYTE Malaysia has confirmed the local price of the motherboard, which is RM2,099.

Pokdepinion: I can imagine this aesthetic approach will be common among creator-focused models.
