vivo Malaysia has introduced the vivo V70 in Malaysia as the brand’s latest mid-range entry with an updated design – perhaps one that looks uncannily similar to an iPhone 16 Pro thanks to the new camera bump – featuring a slightly updated imaging hardware, but overall the changes are limited from the V60 seen last August.

The vivo V70 features a triple rear camera setup, led by the same 50MP periscope telephoto camera equipped with a 1/1.95-inch sensor found in the V60, with zoom range up to 10x (with some bits of AI trickery involved, apparently). The 1/1.56β€³ 50MP wide camera returns, though the 8MP ultrawide camera is updated with f/2.0 aperture and a slightly narrower 115Β° FOV. The front-facing camera’s 50MP autofocus sensor also gets improved f/2.0 aperture. The smartphone also supports 4K60 video recording, which is a first in the V series.

In terms of chassis, there’s very little to differentiate the vivo V70 from an iPhone 16 Pro based on how it looks on the outside (colors notwithstanding). Still, vivo boasts β€œaerospace-grade aluminum alloy frame” with rounded corners and a flat display design – again, same as every other smartphone these days. On the front, the device features a 6.59-inch 1.5K (2750 x 1260) 120Hz β€œVM9” AMOLED display with up to 5,000 nits of HDR peak brightness, which stretches all the way to the edges with just 1.25mm of bezels on all sides. The rear panel uses etched AG glass designed to reduce fingerprints and scratches.

Regarding performance, vivo stuck with the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset for the V70, which also powered its predecessor; it is also equipped with UFS 4.1 storage in both 256GB and 512GB configurations. Battery capacity is the same as before at 6500mAh, and so does its fast charging (at 90W via FlashCharge). The device also includes updated antenna design to improve connectivity in crowded environments, and also new in the V series – a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner now sits beneath the display for biometrics, which works even when fingers are wet. vivo says the V70 will receive 4 generations of OS upgrades and 6 years of security updates.

The vivo V70 is available in Malaysia starting from RM1,999 for the 8GB+256GB model. The 12GB+256GB variant is priced at RM2,199, while the 12GB+512GB version is priced at RM2,599. The device is available in Golden Hour, Alpine Gray and Authentic Black finishes.

Pokdepinion: Honestly, not a fan of the new looks.
