HONOR had one admittedly strange idea when it designed the HONOR 600 Lite: what if we build our smartphone just like an iPhone, but without the expensive price tag to go along with it? Given that the iPhone is as much a fashion and luxury statement piece as it is a technology piece, for better or worse, itβs probably a bit of a no-brainer for the product managers to greenlight this idea.
HONOR 600 Lite

Unlike past attempts where Chinese smartphone makers try to give Apple the sincerest form of flattery without saying it out loud, HONOR has gone out of the way to say that this is exactly their intention for the HONOR 600 Lite, mentioning βpremium iPhone-inspired designβ at least twice in its press release. Be glad that Apple do not wield lawyers of Nintendoβs kind, we suppose β unless this moment is the precursor of Appleβs litigation attempt (the company had previously gone after Samsung for less, like the infamous home button saga).
So what do you get out of this iPhone lookalike? The processor is the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 Elite chipset, which is a midrange model nowhere close to the performance levels of modern iPhones. In its marketing materials, HONOR also sneakily listed its RAM capacity as 24GB (and mentioned just as much in the press release) without even mentioning half of that is the βvirtual RAMβ taken off of its 256GB storage, which more commonly referred as βswapβ in technical speak.

On the back, the HONOR 600 Lite features a 108MP wide camera accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide shooter, forming two of the three βlensesβ of the iPhone 16 Pro that itβs supposed to imitate. The spot where the third lens is supposed to be is instead a ring-shaped flash LED, while the camera bump itself is a translucent material that looks pretty darn close to the real thing.
Other specs include: 6.6-inch 1.5K (2600 x 1200) 120Hz AMOLED display with 800-nit peak brightness, 2000-nit HBM brightness, and 6500-nit HDR peak brightness; a battery with 6,520mAh capacity charged via 45W SuperCharge protocol; IP66 ingress protection (resistant against liquids except submersion), SGS five-star certification for drop & crush resistance, a dedicated remappable βAI Camera Buttonβ, and MagicOS 10 based on Android 16.
All told, the HONOR 600 Lite can be had for just RM1,399, which is several magnitudes cheaper than the iPhones it imitates. Itβs now available in two colors β Desert Gold and Velvet Grey β if thatβs your kind of thing, I suppose itβs not a bad deal after all?
Pokdepinion: Marketing it as 24GB RAM is egregious though.
