CelcomDigi is introducing another monthly subscription for its users, though this one is quite interesting – it’s called PhoneFIX, and it’s advertised as a mobile phone repair subscription service available to both prepaid and postpaid customers, and get this: it applies to any phone you own, even ones outside of CelcomDigi’s contract offerings.

CelcomDigi PhoneFIX Subscription

Supposedly, PhoneFIX provides coverage for common device issues such as cracked screens and battery-related problems, with repairs typically completed within the same day, subject to device eligibility and part availability. Per Lowyat, the company indicated that this applies to any model released within the past two years, although it should be noted that rare models or even just iPhones – and we all know Apple is infamously restrictive when it comes to third-party repairs – probably isn’t going to enjoy this benefit.

According to CelcomDigi, this phone repair service is mostly borne by Swap Asia, while the telco deals with the subscription and front-of-house side of things. As for pricing, that depends on how expensive your smartphone is. For models sold at RM500 or lower, the telco asks for RM3 per month (with an introductory first-month fee of RM1); as the value scales up, the monthly cost does the same, up to RM20 per month for models exceeding RM6,000 in value.

Customers can subscribe to PhoneFIX through the CelcomDigi app by scanning their device to check eligibility and activating the plan directly within the app. Should the worst happens, users are required to pay a separate β€œService Request Fee” to actually get their smartphone repaired, and this also follows the price scaling principle we just discussed, with costs from RM30 to RM470 per request, up to three times in a rolling 12-month period (each repair also gets its own 6-month warranty).
