UMW Toyota Motor March Recap

Earlier this month, UMW Toyota Motor introduced three battery electric models, namely the Toyota bZ4X, Hilux BEV and Urban Cruiser BEV, covering passenger, commercial and urban mobility segments. The company stresses its βmulti-pathway approachβ for its electrification strategy, simultaneously focusing on hybrid vehicles while making inroads in the fully-electric segments.

Speaking of which, Toyota also brought its new Harrier 2.5 HEV as the sole variant available in Malaysia. Built on the TNGA-K platform, the premium SUV features a self-charging hybrid system capable of running in EV-only mode during low-speed driving to improve efficiency. For its powertrain, the ICE is a 2.5L A25A-FXS four-pot that produces 176hp and 221Nm at peak, coupled with a 118hp/202Nm electric motor for a combined output of 214hp driving the front wheels.

Something to note for car enthusiasts: Toyota announced the GR Yaris hot hatch has recently received a βglobal updateβ that, among other things, include a new GR-exclusive leather-wrapped steering wheel (with updates to power steering to match), as well as revised control surfaces to βimprove operability and control during spirited driving,β citing feedback from its Gazoo Racing motorsports arm.

This is supported by a network of more than 100 service centers nationwide, along with service programs such as Toyota Service Savers and Toyota Extend that provide structured maintenance and cost management options.
The company is also enhancing its digital engagement through the Toyota MY App, which enables service bookings and customer interaction with aftersales services. From April to June 2026, users who register on the app receive reward points, with additional points available upon completing service bookings at authorized service centers. While weβre past the Raya season, UMW Toyota Motor continues to offer its promotional packages on selected models, including savings of up to RM7,500 along with flexible financing options.
