Maxis has introduced a new retail space concept aimed at enhancing customer engagement by bringing β€œmobile, home, business and lifestyle experiences” together, showcased at the newly unveiled Maxis Centre at 1 Utama. β€œThis refreshed format moves beyond traditional transactions to deliver an engaging, digital-first experience,” the company said in its statement.

The new concept is designed with three goals: first, simplify customer journeys through a redesigned layout that directs visitors to dedicated zones based on their needs, including gadgets, home connectivity, business solutions and discovery areas. Self-service kiosks are incorporated to support functions such as bill payments, SIM replacements and e-reloads, reducing waiting times and improving efficiency.

Secondly, customers are also encouraged to interact with technology offerings through hands-on experiences, including trying out gaming consoles, home audio devices and other connected solutions, while digital touchpoints allow them to check fiber coverage, explore offers and place in-store orders for immediate pickup. Thirdly, in addition to core telecommunications services, the retail concept brings partnered lifestyle brands onboard to β€œenrich the retail experience.”

According to Maxis, the new store design adopts a β€œwarm, urban minimalist aesthetic,” using sustainable materials, natural tones and wood accents, while a modular layout allows the space to adapt as customer needs change. Just last year, its competitor CelcomDigi also made a similar move by revamping its retail spaces, with the help of Italian design house Pininfarina.

As of today, the company currently operates 62 Maxis Centres and more than 200 partnered stores across Malaysia. In addition to the 1 Utama location, the new concept has been implemented at Maxis Centre IPC (which is just a block away from 1 Utama) and Maxis Centre Aman Central in Alor Setar, Kedah, with further rollouts planned under a three-year roadmap to progressively update all retail touchpoints nationwide.
