AMD Expands Ryzen AI 400 Series With New Desktop Models And PRO Variants

At MWC 2026, AMD announced its Ryzen AI 400 series is welcoming with the addition of new desktop socketed variants (effectively, the successor of Ryzen 8000G series) and enterprise-focused Ryzen AI PRO 400 series for desktops, commercial laptops and mobile workstations.

AMD Ryzen AI 400 Is Coming To Desktops

Firstly, the Ryzen AI 400 series desktop processors effectively mirrors the specs of their laptop counterparts, with additional power headroom expected from the less restrictive cooling constraints in desktop PCs. The current lineup maxes out to 8 cores, and there’s no Ryzen AI 9 (nor the 9 HX) variants available in desktop form for now. Systems based on AM5 platforms with Ryzen AI 400 Series processors are expected to be available from OEM partners including HP and Lenovo beginning in the second quarter of 2026, AMD says. No word on DIY releases though, though the gap left above the Ryzen 7 models could still open a window for the company to introduce Ryzen 9 counterparts with more powerful integrated graphics (i.e. Radeon 890M) at a later time, should it wishes to do so.

The chipmaker also expanded its commercial mobile portfolio with Ryzen AI PRO 400 series processors, intended for enterprise laptops; in this case, the lineup includes two Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO models – both 12-core models – followed by another four SKUs ranging from 10 to 6 cores. AMD notes that β€œmobile workstations” featuring Ryzen AI PRO 400 series processors are expected to be available starting 2H 2026, with models to be introduced by Dell, HP and Lenovo.
