After some teasing over at Sega’s side, we finally got to know about the latest entry in the Valkyria series. Yes, it is actually Valkyria Chronicles 4.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 Officially Announced

Over the past few days, SegaΒ has been teasingΒ a new entry in theΒ ValkyriaΒ series, and the promised moment of its reveal has finally come. The new game is indeedΒ Valkyria Chronicles 4. The English version will be coming to the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One, and will come sometime in 2018.

For Japan, the title will be the usualΒ Senjo no Valkyria 4Β (which translates asΒ Valkyria of the Battlefield 4), and it will release for PlayStation 4 on March 21st and for Nintendo Switch later in Summer 2018.

TheΒ Valkyria ChroniclesΒ series debuted in 2008 for PS3, quickly earning acclaim from critics and fans due to its tactical gameplay and its top-notch story, characters, and visuals. It gave birth to two sequels on PSP in 2010 and 2011, but unfortunately, Sega never localized the third game. After that, the first game received two remasters on PC and PS4,Β which are definitely awesome.

Recently, Sega also released a spin-off namedΒ Valkyria Revolution. While it was enjoyable, it came with a completely different genre and world. It ultimatelyΒ failed to live up to the series legacy.

I don’t know about you, but as a massive fan of theΒ Valkyria ChroniclesΒ series, the past week has been a rather nervous one. While announcing a new mainline game seemed a no-brainer, publishers often surprise us with choices that appear inexplicable.

Yet, this time around we have what I’m sure almost everyone wanted.Β Valkyria Chronicles 4Β is coming, and I couldn’t be happier. You can check out the announcement trailer at the top of this post. Keep in mind, there’s no PC version coming, at least not at the moment.

Pokdepinion: I’ve been waiting for this for a while now and I couldn’t be happier. Now to get the hype train rolling!
