This New WhatsApp Feature Could Come To Android Devices Before iPhones
WhatsApp users, especially from the Android segment, could possibly see a new feature on the app that will allow for fingerprint authentication. The news was leaked out by famous WABetaInfo, who previously let out the details of the messaging app would come with ads before it even came out.
It is revealed that the function will lock the app until the user has placed their finger on a scanner. It is understood that the company are working on it, so thereβs no official word yet on when/if it will come out.
The feature would come in handy if you were to lose your smartphone. Even if somebody stole your phone, thereβs another authentication barrier for them to get pass, which in this case would need your fingerprint to unlock the app. In turn, this provides a more secured way if you look at it in that way.
Theyβve even showed how the new feature will look like in the appβs settings. It is said to be in the βalpha stageβ of development, so donβt expect it to be released too soon. Other than that, the feature will work on Android devices that is running on Googleβs Android 6 Marshmallow and above.
Pokdepinion: Though it may look like itβll add more hassle in getting in to your account, if it does indeed offer more security, I canβt see why not? Itβs nice to have something to back up your account just in case anything happens.
