Razer is Patenting A Game Console Concept That Looks Like Nintendo Switch
While rumours have surfaced on a potential new game console by Razer that looks like the Nintendo Switch, weβve received some rather interesting information from Letβs Go Digital that could make it official. It seems like Razer has finally submitted a patent for a new, undisclosed video game console.
The patent sent to the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) indicated a handheld game system which weighs about 1.4kg, and connects to controllers via magnet instead of railings like the Nintendo Switch. Itβs worth noting that at 1.4kg, it is much heavier than the Nintendo Switch, which it seems to resemble.
Shortly after reports have surfaced however, Razer reached out to Letβs Go Digital to give a statement on the matter. Weβve translated it to English for your understanding:
As one of the worldβs most forward-looking companies, Razer regularly applies for new patents for innovative concepts and designs. With more than 3,000 applications, Razer recently won prizes from the World Intellectual Property Organization for its innovations. At the start of 2013 we invented the first gaming tablet with removable controllers β the Razer Edge β years before devices like the Nintendo Switch were launched. Our patents may or may not be marketed and we do not comment on unannounced products.
Itβs quite normal for large companies like Razer to file patents all the time. It doesnβt necessarily translate to a brand new product making its way out but it does give us some form of indication as to what to expect. For now, weβll just have to wait and see whatβs in store for us in the future.

Pokdepinion: Well, if itβs real, then Iβll have something new to look forward to. One thingβs for sure, it definitely needs a strong library of games if it wants to have any chance of success.
