Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo Investigated Potentially For Breaking Consumer Protection Law
Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo could possibly be in hot water right now as the Competition and Market Authority (CMA) in the United Kingdom is investigating them over several of their business practices.
Some of the issues that theyβre looking at includes the companiesβ auto-renewals for services such as Playstation Plus, Xbox Live, as well as Nintendo Switch Online. Additionally, CMA is looking deep into their cancellation, refund policy, and terms and conditions.
Besides of requesting the listed companiesβ online gaming contracts, theyβve also asked for the publicβs experience when it comes to using the services.
The Chief Executive of CMA, Andrea Coscelli, has said given their view on the matter by saying βShould we find that the firms arenβt treating people fairly under consumer protection law, we are fully prepared to take actionβ.
Just recently, Sony has decided to update their cancellation policy over pre-order games, where they allow for customers to cancelled their pre-ordered games to get a full refund.
Pokdepinion: Well this is interesting. I wonder how will they react to the investigation. Letβs see how this pans out.
