Blizzard to Port Hearthstone to Nintendo Switch?

Thereβs been a rash of disappointing news for Nintendo Switch fans expecting ports. YesterdayΒ news spread like wildfire thatΒ A Hat in TimeΒ by Gears for BreakfastΒ would not be making it to Nintendo Switch, and today a Blizzard representative has noted that a Nintendo Switch version ofΒ HearthstoneΒ isnβt in development.
News comes with publication PowerUp!βsΒ interview with Dean Ayala, one ofΒ HearthstoneβsΒ principal game designer behind theΒ Kobolds and CatacombsΒ expansion. When asked whether recent rumors thatΒ Blizzardβs massively successful card game would be making its way to Nintendo Switch is true, he responded with a succinct dismissal:
There are no plans to move HearthStone to the Nintendo Switch.
While that initial rumor may seem far-fetched, it actually isnβt. At BlizzCon 2017, one of the gameβsΒ senior game designer Peter Whalen noted thatΒ people shouldnβt βrule outβ the possibility ofΒ the game coming to Nintendo SwitchΒ one day, though nothing then was in the works either. These statements were further compounded by rumors fromΒ a well-established Reddit leakerΒ who noted βBlizzard is preparing aΒ HearthstoneΒ port for the Nintendo Switch.β
While there is always a possibility that knowledge of the project is segregated in the Blizzard development scene, the far more likely answer is thatΒ the digital card gameΒ isnβt currently being developed for the Nintendo Switch.
Blizzard EntertainmentβsΒ HearthstoneΒ initially released on PC in March 2014, and later made its way to mobile platforms.
Pokdepinion: You donβt have to be sad about not having Hearthstone on the Nintendo Switch. You could always just get it for your phone as itβs available for iOS and Android, and also for PC since itβs not a resource-intensive game.
