Seagate Reveals How the Xbox Series X Storage Expansion Cards Work
Recently, we learned that the Xbox Series X Storage Expansion cards by Seagate will be retailing at USD $219.99. If youβre wondering how it works and if itβs worth the money, we have all the details you need right here.
Seagate Reveals How the Xbox Series X Storage Expansion Cards Work
For starters, Seagate explains that the Xbox Series X Storage Expansion cards, which will also work with the Xbox Series S, will have the same speeds as the internal console SSD. This means you can make use of the Quick Resume feature with games installed in the card.
Itβs also easy to install as it works just like the memory cards of old. You just simply need to plug it into the port on the console and youβre good to go. There will be a notification on the consoleβs dashboard which will let you know that itβs ready for use. You can also freely swap between cards without the need to shut down the console.
This makes it even more convenient as you can easily bring your games with you since they will not be tied to a specific console. All you need to do is sign in to the Xbox Live account that the games are registered to, and youβre good to go.
As for alternative storage solutions, Seagate mentioned that you can use external HDDs / SSDs, but itβs not so much for Xbox Series X games. It will not have issues with Xbox One, Xbox 360, and the OG Xboxβs games however. The next gen games need to storage drives that are optimized for Xbox Velocity Architecture in order to run, so thatβs something to keep in mind.
Pokdepinion: This really works like the memory cards of old. Itβs clean and easy to use. Good job, Microsoft and Seagate.
