We were recently treated to the announcement of Death Stranding Directorβs Cut, which is expected to launch on 25th September 2021 exclusively for the PlayStation 5. Interestingly, Hideo Kojima dislikes the additional naming and has since voiced it out on Twitter.
According to Hideo Kojima, this is what a Directorβs Cut should entail:
A directorβs cut in a movie is an additional edit to a shortened version that was either released reluctantly because the director did not have the right to edit it, or because the running time had to be shortened. In the game, it is not what was cut, but what was additionally produced that was included.
Hideo Kojima
Naturally, many people started to think if there may be some friction between Hideo Kojima, along with Kojima Productions, and Sony Interactive Entertainment. This is also in part due to a rumor of a collaboration project between Xbox and Kojima floating around online.
For now, we will report more on this if and when information becomes available. Death Stranding Directorβs Cut will be coming exclusively to the PlayStation 5 on 24th September 2021. It may be ported over to PC later on in the form of an update to the existing game, which 505 Games holds the publishing rights to.
Pokdepinion: I believe creative differences isnβt necessarily a sign of a sour relationship. When there are many people involved, this kind of thing happens often. If anything bad happened between the two parties, Iβm sure thereβs more to the behind the scenes.
