Samsung and AMD Extend Strategic Partnership to Bring Next Gen Exynos Chips to Life
Samsung and AMD have agreed to extend their strategic partnership to bring several generations of high-performance and ultra-low-power AMD Radeon graphics solutions to Exynos chipsets for console-level graphics quality and optimized power consumption.
Samsung and AMD Extend Partnership to For Future Exynos Chips
Samsung and AMDβs partnership continues to blossom as they sign another multi-year agreement that will see the integration of AMD Radeon graphics technology in Samsungβs Exynos chipsets. The strategic partnership was first signed back in 2019, but the recent announcement suggests that the two companies plan to collaborate for years to come.
With the new partnership, Samsung is expected to integrate several generations of AMD Radeon graphics solutions into its Exynos chipsets, providing console-level graphics quality and optimized power consumption.
Together with AMD, Samsung has been revolutionizing mobile graphics, including our recent collaboration that brought ray-tracing capability to mobile processors for the first time in the industry. Drawing on our technological know-how in designing ultra-low-power solutions, we will continue to drive ongoing innovation in the mobile graphics space.

Samsungβs previous collaboration with AMD resulted in the Exynos 2200, which featured a custom Xclipse GPU based on the AMD RDNA2 architecture. The Exynos 2200 came with hardware-based ray tracing and Variable Rate Shading (VRS) and was featured in European units of the Galaxy S22 series. Despite the Exynos 2200βs capable performance, it still fell short compared to Qualcommβs Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. However, the new multi-year partnership between Samsung and AMD aims to take the next generation of Exynos processors to the next level with improved performance and graphics capabilities.
According to Samsung, the extended partnership with AMD will enable them to bring cutting-edge technologies to their customers across the globe. The partnership will enable Samsung to offer a unique mobile experience with high-performance and ultra-low-power AMD Radeon graphics solutions. The renewed partnership shows Samsungβs commitment to improving its mobile offerings and catching up with industry leaders. While itβs unclear when the new Exynos processors with AMD Radeon graphics will be launched, the partnership is expected to bring exciting developments in the near future.
Pokdepinion: I still have high hopes for the Exynos chips. Perhaps they can bring something to the table that Qualcomm and MediaTek canβt, but they definitely need to figure out the heat and energy efficiency part to really be seen as a competitive product. Otherwise, it would just be a repeat of what weβve seen thus far.
