realme has launched a new entry-level model in the form of realme Note 80 in Malaysia, and to quote its words from the press release: β€œtailored for Malaysian gig workers tackling busy urban routines to youth entering the smartphone market.” Given that it lands on the ultra-budget segment, the focus is on durability, battery life, and performance (as much as the budget would allow, that is).

Regarding durability, realme Note 80 features MIL-STD-810H-certified β€œArmorShell” protection for shock resistance. The design includes reinforced corners, internal cushioning and strengthened glass, all accounting for 300% improved bend resistance, a 1.8-meter maximum drop height, and survives pocket-height (0.6m) drops for 150 times. It also supports IP54 dust and water resistance, together with wet-hand touch mode and a speaker water ejection feature to keep it operable in the rainy days.

Its battery comes at a respectable 6,300mAh capacity, and realme claims it supports up to 740 hours of standby time, up to 108 hours of music playback and up to 15 hours of video streaming on a single charge. It has the most basic form of fast charging at 15W, so topping the cell back up is going to take a while. Performance-wise, it’s a budget phone after all, so don’t expect much. It’s got an octa-core, 12nm-based Unisoc T7250 chipset, along with β€œ18GB Dynamic RAM” onboard (we can’t find the actual RAM capacity) and up to 256GB internal storage.

For its display, the realme Note 80 features a 6.74-inch HD+ (1600 x 720) 90Hz LCD panel with DC dimming designed to reduce screen flickering, and above you’ll find a 5MP selfie camera tucked inside a teardrop notch; the rear camera, meanwhile, is a single 8MP sensor. The device measures 7.94mm in thickness and weighs 197g.

The realme Note 80 is priced at RM399 and is available through realme brand stores, authorized retailers and official online stores on Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop in Malaysia, available in Glacier Blue and Storm Black color options.
