The HONOR WIN Gaming Laptop Packs Six Fans For Maximum Cooling

Conventional wisdom tells us that most gaming laptops today pack two fans to cool their internals, and it’s only fairly recently that we’ve seen triple-fan or even quad-fan setup deployed into gaming laptops outside of the uber-expensive realm. The HONOR WIN gaming laptop claims to have six – and it’s just about as unconventional as you’d expect.

The upcoming Chinese-exclusive gaming laptop from the company that is best known for its smartphones had some crazy ideas in regards to the WIN’s cooling system. On top of the usual two fans occupying each rearward corners of the chassis, there are four additional miniature fans in the middle that is claimed to pull 10% more air and 20W more thermal headroom compared to triple-fan layouts, as well as 2°C lower keyboard surface temperature. Wonder where we have seen this before.

If you look closely you’ll notice that unlike most implementations, the quartet of fans in the middle sits upright relative to the laptop’s orientation, and they measures just 21mm in diameter while HONOR claims same airflow and noise levels when compared to a single 120mm fan (naturally, the chassis ends up very thick as a result). I’m not sure if 21mm fans spinning at 20,000+RPM would be anywhere near quiet, though, despite its sub-38dBA claims.

The laptop is set to feature several combinations of processing hardware, which maxes out with a pairing of Intel Core Ultra 8 290HX Plus and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU, utilizing 270W of combined power. I guess we’ll have to wait until local reviewers to find out what it’s capable of, as we don’t expect this model to appear outside of HONOR’s domestic market.
