In line with MWC Barcelona event, Xiaomi has unveiled several new gadgets on the show, including the new Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and Leica Leitzphone, alongside the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro tablet, and the Xiaomi Watch 5 as its latest offerings. (The company also unveiled several other accessories, though we’ll mention the highlights here.)

Smartphones: Xiaomi 17 Series & Leica Leitzphone

The new flagship smartphone lineup starts with the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, which features a 1-inch LOFIC (Light Fusion 1050) main sensor, and a 200MP 75-100mm telephoto camera with mechanical optical zoom and up to 400mm equivalent (17.2x) focal range. For video, it supports Dolby Vision and ACES Log recording at up to 4K 120fps. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 17 comes with a 1/1.31-inch Light Fusion 950 sensor featuring effective 2.4ΞΌm pixel size (4-in-1 binning), paired with a 60mm (5x) floating telephoto lens for zoom. It supports 4K 60fps Dolby Vision and Log recording, while the 50MP front camera gets upgraded autofocus.

Both models are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, though battery and charging features are slightly counterintuitive: the Ultra gets a smaller 6000mAh cell with 90W fast charging support, while the standard model gets a slightly larger 6330mAh cell and 100W fast charging instead; both supports 50W wireless fast charging. Regarding displays, both get new custom β€œM10” LTPO OLED panels with up to 3,500 nits peak brightness and the full 1–120Hz dynamic refresh rate range. For the Ultra model, Xiaomi also offers two photography kit modules that features a wrist strap, shutter buttons, and in the case of the Pro variant, an additional 2,000mAh battery pack.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is available in White, Black, and Starlit Green colors in two configurations: 16GB+512GB costs RM5,499, while the 16GB+1TB variant costs RM5,999; as for the regular Xiaomi 17, it’ll comes with Alpine Pink, Ice Blue, Venture Green, and Black colors, also in two variants – the 12GB+512GB costs RM3,799, whereas the online-exclusive 12GB+256GB variant costs RM3,499.

There’s one more new smartphone though, and it’s not directly Xiaomi-branded. As a long-time partner of Xiaomi’s imaging expertise, Leica is getting a centenary birthday gift of its own courtesy of Xiaomi-developed β€œLeitzphoneβ€œ, with a nickel-anodized aluminum body, Leica-tuned interface, and a physical Leica Camera Ring dial for controlling specific camera functions. For its cameras, Leica has given the smartphone special image profiles inspired by its M9 and M3 cameras with MONOPAN 50 film under the special β€œLeica Essential mode” function. It’s also uber expensive, with the sole 16GB+1TB configuration priced at RM7,499.

Tablet: Xiaomi Pad 8 Series

On the tablet side, Xiaomi introduced Pad 8 and Pad 8 Pro tablets, both featuring an 11.2-inch 3.2K IPS displays with up to 800 nits brightness and 144Hz refresh rate, in a 5.75mm thin, 485g chassis that houses a slightly larger 9,200mAh battery than predecessor. In terms of processing hardware, the Pro model is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, while the standard variant runs on the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset instead. Both features optional accessories like the magnetic keyboard (with and without the touchpad), tablet cover/stand, and the new Focus Pen Pro, cross-compatible across both models.

There are some more differences in specifications between the two: camera-wise, the Pro comes with a single 50MP sensor, while the standard opts for 13MP instead; the front camera is a 32MP and a 8MP unit respectively. The Pro model supports up to 67W via its HyperCharge protocol, while the standard maxes out at 45W; in terms of storage options, the Pro will be offered in 512GB, while the standard is offered in 256GB at most (both don’t feature storage expansions, however). For pricing, the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro is RM2,699 for the 256GB and RM2,999 for the 512GB variant, while the standard costs RM1,999 for the 256GB, and RM1,699 for the 128GB variant.

For wearables, there’s the new Xiaomi Watch 5, featuring Wear OS 6 and Gemini AI integration at launch. The smartwatch now supports wrist-based gesture controls through EMG, IMU and PPG sensors, and the main processing is done through Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 and the Bestechnic BES2800 chipsets. Paired with the 930mAh silicon-carbon battery, Xiaomi claims the Watch 5 can last up to 6 days in smart mode, or 18 days in power saver mode. It’s now available at RM1,199.

Other Gadgets

Xiaomi also announced a few other products: the Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 15W is a particularly thin power bank that can be easily slipped into pockets, thanks to its 16% silicon-carbon content that increases the energy density of the battery (and in turn, shrinks its size). The company at least guarantees that it can output 15W of power wirelessly to the Xiaomi 17 series smartphones. It’ll cost RM259 apiece, available in Glacier Silver and Graphite Black colors right now – Radiant Orange will have to wait until end of March.

Moving on, the Xiaomi Tag is the company’s take on the tracking tag device which works on both Apple Find My and Google Find Hub networks, with support for remote item finding, lost mode, and collaborative finding. It can last over one year with a single CR2032 coin cell battery, and it is IP67 dust and water-resistant. A single unit costs RM59, while a 4-pack costs RM199.

Xiaomi also announced the new Xiaomi TV S Mini LED 2026 series in five sizes, namely 55-, 65-, 75-, 85-, and 98-inch. It features a 4K QLED Mini-LED panel that supports HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and is powered by Xiaomi Visual Engine for its image processing. Each TV comes with a pair of 15W speakers onboard, and for gamers, the default 144Hz refresh rate can be further boosted to 288Hz for extra smoothness. The 55-, 65-, and 75-inch variants will be available starting 3 March, costing RM2,499, RM3,499, and RM3,999 respectively, while the 85-inch and 98-inch models will be available by the end of March costing RM8,999 and RM12,999 respectively.

Additionally, Xiaomi also brought a new product under its budget REDMI sub-brand: the new REDMI Buds 8 Pro now features triple coaxial driver for audio, 55dB ANC up to 5kHz bandwidth, plus wind noise cancellation of up to 12m/s with its triple-microphone system. It lasts 8 hours per charge and extends up to 33 hours with the charging case, and it is IP54-rated for ingress protection. It’s available in Glacier Blue, Obsidian Black, and Cloud White colors, costing RM269.

…And A Concept EV Hypercar

You’re probably aware that Xiaomi also got its feet into the EV game, with the SU7 Ultra sedan grabbing headlines in the automotive world for its pretty beastly performance. Now the smartphone-maker-cum-EV-automaker is joining many others before them to present its Vision Gran Turismo concept for Gran Turismo 7, which involves an electric hypercar that features a teardrop cockpit design, halo-style taillight, and simulated drag coefficient of 0.29 (which is pretty low by sports car’s standards). While this is not going to be a real car you can buy even with infinite amounts of money, the next best thing is you can soon try it out in a PlayStation 5 near you.
