vivo Y100 5G Debuts In Malaysia: 80W Fast Charging, 120Hz Display & More
vivo has officially taken the wraps off its latest budget smartphone, the Y100 5G. The newest Y-series model from the Chinese smartphone maker gets some of the features from its higher-end siblings, including the 120Hz AMOLED panel and 80W fast charging.
The vivo Y100 5G certainly got the looks department sorted: it’s created with something called EcoFiber Leather and a “metallic high-gloss frame” with 3D embossed line texture that allows it to stand out. The chassis features patented anti-stain coating that “resists stains, scratches, dirt, wear and UV aging to some extent.” It’s also water resistant, though the rating of IP54 meant it’s not designed to withstand liquid submersion – but splash protection will be enough for most.
As mentioned, it features a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, 5,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging (that can charge the phone to 80% in just 30 minutes), and a volume audio booster feature that outputs 300% more volume. On the camera side of things, the vivo Y100 5G gets an 8MP front-facing camera, while the rear features a 50MP main shooter, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a flicker sensor camera.
The processing is handled by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC, coupled with 8GB of RAM – surprisingly, memory paging feature like Extended RAM is not present here. Instead, there’s a ‘RAM Saver’ feature that compresses app memory usage by up to 600MB.
In terms of pricing, the vivo Y100 5G, available in Leather Purple and Crystal Black colors, is now available nationwide via vivo Concept stores, official vivo e-store, Shopee, and Lazada at the price of RM1,199 for the sole 8GB+256GB variant.
