Twitter is Banning Anyone Who Uses This Harsh Word
Twitter has been doing their part to keep their social platform as clean as possible. As such, there will be updates to rules, regulations, and actions taken by the social media giant from time to time. The latest move has them banning users for using a harsh word regardless of context.
That word is none other than βretardβ. Even the variation, βretardedβ will get you banned.
This is particularly interesting because last year, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said, in an interview with Joe Rogan, that they donβt want to regulate conversations or censor words on their platform. They will only do it in cases of targeted harassment, essentially saying that context matters. That doesnβt appear to be the case here as users have started to get banned for using the word regardless of context.
This Isnβt Even The First Wave of Bans Twitter Has Taken Recently
Previously, Twitter started to crack down on users that used the term βokay boomerβ as it is deemed to be targeted harassment towards the elderly. With the social media platform banning users in waves more often recently, this may end up getting people turned off from the platform.
Weβll be reporting more on the matter as soon as information becomes available so stay tuned.

Pokdepinion: Personally, I think if thereβs no reason to use the word, you wouldnβt want to use it anyway. Granted, some memes / jokes may require it for a punchline but I think the internet has evolved to a point that it can substitute anything and still retain its comedic value, if not improve it even further.
