Windows 10 Isn’t Done With New Features, Because Microsoft Wants AI In It Too
Remember when earlier this year Microsoft ended new feature updates for Windows 10 moving forward, turning its attention entirely to Windows 11 instead? As the latter struggled to tap into the massive Windows PC market due to its stringent requirements, the company is officially reversing that decision in hopes of achieving better uptake rates for its upcoming Copilot AI.
So, if you’re one of the seventy-plus-percent of users currently on Windows 10, what should you expect? In terms of UI changes, you’ll be seeing a new Copilot icon residing at the tail end of the Taskbar, pushing the Action Center button and System Tray leftward. Currently, the AI is undergoing testing through the Windows Insider Release Preview channel, so it’ll be some time before it ships to all Windows 10 systems.
If AI isn’t quite your cup of tea, there’s other potentially good news. According to the support document, Microsoft is “revisiting (its) approach to Windows 10” when it comes to feature updates. That includes a new “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” toggle through Windows Update; however, the document ends with a note that the official end-of-support date of October 14, 2025, remains unchanged – for now.

Pokdepinion: I still think Windows 10 is a much more superior OS for power users – if Microsoft decides to keep it going beyond 2025, I’m all for it.
