Spotify to Stop Auto-Shuffling Albums As Per Adeleβs Request
For those of you who constantly listen to music on Spotify, Iβm sure youβre aware that it has a feature to auto-shuffle albums. This can be useful to discover new songs that youβve never heard before from a particular artist but if youβre not a fan of it, we have some good news.
Spotify to Stop Auto-Shuffling Albums As Per Adeleβs Request
This was the only request I had in our ever changing industry! We donβt create albums with so much care and thought into our track listing for no reason. Our art tells a story and our stories should be listened to as we intended. Thank you Spotify for listening π·β₯οΈ https://t.co/XWlykhqxAy

Spotify is great if youβre looking for more new music given how the platform presents it to you. When it comes to specific artists, how you listen to it may not be how the artist intended it to be, and thatβs the case for Adele.
As many of you may know by now, Adele launched her album last week, 30, and Spotify did her a favor by not using the auto-shuffle for her album by default. According to the popular artist, βThis was the only request I had in our ever changing industry!β
This is an interesting beginning for a change as Spotify will indeed be remove the default shuffle / play button from albums, specifically for those who have a premium subscription to the service. The free version shuffles everything by default so that canβt be helped.
As Adele mentioned, we are excited to share that we have begun rolling out a new Premium feature that has long been requested by both users and artists to make play the default button on all albums.

This will certainly allow artists to showcase their musical creations as they intended it to be instead of simply shuffling them, which doesnβt really make sense more often than not. For those whoβd rather have it shuffled, it is still an option, just that it will no longer be the default option moving forward.
Pokdepinion: Itβs a great move for the music streaming platform, especially for newly launched albums. After a while, Iβm sure most people would change it to default but it will at least allow people to enjoy the music the way it should be first.
