Google May Be Introducing Emoji Reactions To Gmail Soon
First discovered by Steve Moser of The Tape Drive, Google has been spotted trialing a new feature that makes Gmail functioning more similar to your regular messaging app. Microsoftβs Outlook already has such feature baked in, however.
The code relating to emoji reactions has been found in the iOS app, which is later followed by Gmail APK (courtesy of AssembleDebug) with several lines of code pointing to the featureβs existence. On the latter, there is one particular line that says this feature is βcoming soonβ, followed by βyouβre among the first Gmail users to get an emoji reactionβ, which likely points to a small-group trial in the plans before rolling into stable release.
The idea is that you donβt have to sent a full email to reply something as simple as βnotedβ, which should make email conversations a tad bit tidier. However, there are limitations: you canβt use it on encrypted messages, and the maximum amounts of emojis allowed are seemingly limited as well. When asked by The Verge, Google spokesperson Madison Cushman Veld gave the publication a rather conspicuous reply: βπ,βπ».β
Pokdepinion: Hereβs hoping your next email donβt end up seeing βπ©β anytime soon.
