Google Gemini Enters Malaysian Public Universities

The initiative is supported by Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), which has provided 40,000 faculty members with access to Google AI Pro for Education to tap into the companyβs advanced AI models. In addition, 128,000 students have been given access to NotebookLM Enterprise to support their research and writing.
Through the deployment, students and lecturers can use Gemini 3.1 Pro together with LearnLM, a set of models designed to support educational use-cases. The platform includes tools such as Guided Learning, which assists students in understanding academic concepts through structured interaction, and Deep Research, which supports research tasks by helping users gather and analyze information.
Universities are also implementing training programs to support AI literacy among students and educators. Initiatives include the Gemilang program, the Google Skills platform, free Google AI training courses, Gemini Certification for University Students and the Google Career Launchpad program, which aim to help users apply AI tools for learning and professional development.
