CelcomDigi S.A.F.E. Internet Survey 2026: Uni Edition

Introduced in conjunction with Safer Internet Day 2026, the survey is conducted in collaboration with universities and higher learning institutions nationwide, with a goal to reach at least 5,000 respondents over the coming months. For starters, this survey will focus on understanding how tertiary students and youths identify online threats, interpret suspicious digital behavior and content, and decide how to respond when faced with potential risks.
And since the society as a whole has been very new to the concept of AI, CelcomDigi will also look into how increased exposure to AI-generated content affects their ability to distinguish between authentic and misleading information. βYoung adults are now among the most frequent victims of sophisticated online scams,β says Philip Ling, CelcomDigiβs Head of Sustainability, citing data from the 2025 State of Scams in Malaysia report. The company says data gathered from this survey will be used to βshape stronger, dataβdriven safeguardsβ for this group.
In parallel with the survey, CelcomDigi has been implementing several online safety initiatives across Malaysia, including its S.A.F.E. Internet education program that delivers digital safety awareness sessions in schools, universities, and community centers; the company also works with a network of digital safety advocates, youth leaders, content creators, and media professionals to broaden outreach through training and engagement initiatives.
