Razer has a new self-claimed world record to boast with its new Razer Atlas Pro mousepad: itβs the worldβs thinnest glass-based gaming mousepad, with a 1.9mm profile across its full construction, while the actual glass part is just 1.1mm thick.

Now, one may ask, βis there a point in making mousepads thinner?β According to Razer, the reduced thickness lowers the height difference between the desk and surface, and that helps with wrist position when youβre holding the mouse β the same principle why wrist rests are a thing on keyboards. For reference, the company says typical thickness levels of most mousepads on the market right now have remained above 3mm.

The Razer Atlas Pro uses a 500 x 400mm tempered glass surface with a micro-etched texture measuring 2 micrometers to allow the mouse sensors to accurately track movements (you donβt want a completely smooth glass as that beats the purpose), and the inherent advantage of glass surface is that it tracks smoother than cloth-based mousepads, suitable for players preferring high-speed flicks over precision control.

Another feature Razer touts on its glass mousepad is the full-coverage rubber base to maintain grip at all times, comparing it to other models that typically uses rubber legs on four corners which is less stable in this regard. The glass edges are also rounded through CNC machining to minimize discomfort, and for durability concerns that comes with glass materials, the company says itβs rated for 9H Mohs hardness, which should make it fairly scratch-resistant; itβs also got a layer of coating that makes it easy to clean.
The Razer Atlas Pro is priced at RM599 and is now available through Razerβs online store, retail outlets, and selected partners.
Pokdepinion: I wouldnβt mind a smaller version.
