The laptop in question, codenamed β€œPH16-71” is seen paired with Intel’s upcoming flagship-class Core i9-13900HX CPU and the GPU in question is listed as β€œNVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Laptop GPU”. The GPU features 12GB of VRAM – a much-needed upgrade over the predecessor’s 8GB with games increasingly reaching the limits of available capacity. That in turn should translate to a bus width of 192-bit (384-bit is extremely unlikely due to RTX 4090 Laptop likely having 256-bit, plus the extra L2 cache is more lenient on VRAM bandwidth requirements).

This GPU is said to feature a GA104 die, with 7,424 CUDA cores (58 SMs) on tap. In this particular benchmark, the GPU is seen clocked at 2.01GHz. The OpenCL test produced 178,038 points for the 4080 – while not necessarily reflected in gaming performance, we see a 30% improvement over NVIDIA’s current-best offering, the RTX 3080 Ti Laptop GPU, at 136,008 points. The lead extends to 42% when compared against its direct predecessor, the RTX 3080 Laptop GPU.

The RTX 40 Laptop GPU series is expected to be revealed in the upcoming NVIDIA CES 2023 β€œGeForce Beyond” keynote on Jan 3, 2023.

Pokdepinion: Knowing how powerful RTX 40 is on high resolution gaming, expect RTX 4080 to get quite a jump in performance on 1440p+ gaming.
