Own an NVIDIA RTX 5090 GPU on the verge of melting its connectors? German-based Aqua Computer have just the solution for you. The infamous 12VHPWR, and later 12V-2Γ6 connector, have since attributed to several cases of GPU casualties, which has never been officially βfixedβ even today. Meet AMPINEL, which the company touted as βsafe and intelligentβ.
AMPINEL Power Monitor
Technically, the problem with connectors melting canβt be fully blamed on the connectors themselves. It has been known that NVIDIA, along with its AIBs, have not implemented proper methods of load balancing across six of the power pins, which β under certain conditions β can cause one particular cable to overload, delivering all the power GPU requires whilst the remaining pins were underutilized. Too much power flowing through a copper cable, and it melts as a result.

Hence, this is what the AMPINEL device precisely does: having a dedicated load balancer to ensure that power is distributed evenly across all power pins, and intervenes in real time if there is detected overload (>7.5A) or uneven load. Besides that, it also monitors all currents, voltages, and temperatures at the connector; should things go south, itβll alert the user, or initiate emergency shutdown should the worst happens. All of these data can be logged and monitored via the Aquasuite software.
Aqua Computer says the AMPINEL will be available for pre-order for the price of β¬79.90 (RM394) apiece, with deliveries expected to begin in mid-November. Itβll available in black color only, though the company says it is considering a white-colored version in the future for owners of white-themed PC builds.
