AMD Zen 5 βGranite Ridgeβ CPUs Reportedly In Mass Production, Coming 2H 2024
Believe it or not, AMDβs Zen 4 was launched in 2022, and weβre now in 2024. Time sure flies β and now weβre getting some tidbits on AMDβs next-gen architecture, aptly named Zen 5. This new architecture, codenamed βGranite Ridgeβ, is reportedly in the mass production phase, according to leaker @Kepler_L2.

Some basic information on Zen 5 β the successor to Zen 4 will continue using the Socket AM5 as per AMDβs commitment to the socket until at least 2025, and that means current AMD 600-series motherboards will be compatible with these chips via a manufacturer-provided BIOS update. Officially, Team Red has already projected the release of Zen 5 on 2H 2024 and has hinted at it as a βnew grounds-up microarchitectureβ.
Keplerβs confirmation means that AMD could be announcing these new chips later this year, possibly on Computex 2024 β the company has previously done the same on the Zen 2 architecture in 2019. More information will be announced down the line, as usual β though the ball is under AMDβs foot, so they are free to decide when is the best time to announce the new CPUs. One thingβs for sure β Intel wonβt be sitting still, as they are preparing Arrow Lake to take this fight head-on.
Pokdepinion: Letβs see how big of a jump Zen 5 could be.Β
