AMD is soon launching what will likely be the worldβs fastest gaming CPU (since itβs just a faster 9800X3D that is already regarded as such), and the chipmaker has announced the launch date and the official MSRP for it: $499.
AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D: $499
This was announced several hours ago (as of this writing) by AMDβs David McAfee, who also confirmed the release date of the processor, on 29 January. That price tag marks a slight bump over Ryzen 7 9800X3Dβs $479 launch pricing, which is reflected through its incremental nature; granted, local pricing will differ based on exchange rates and other factors, though expect it to be slightly higher than the RM2,599 commanded by the 9800X3D chip β think RM100-200 above.

In case you missed it, AMD announced this new model back in CES 2026, where the difference comes down to exactly one parameter: boost clock. From the 9800X3Dβs 5.2GHz boost clock, the 9850X3D bumps that to 5.6GHz, and its first-party benchmarks shows performance gains in the single-digit percentage range, in line with the clock speed bump. Still, it must be said that this new chip uses AMDβs second-generation 3D V-Cache technology, which is what made the 9800X3D command leadership gaming performance in the first place.
That also means that if you already own the 9800X3D, chances are you wonβt feel any perceptible difference in performance between this to the 9850X3D. This is effectively AMDβs take on the Intel KS-series specials, reserved only for those wanting the fastest possible chip for gaming, but itβs miniscule price bump meant that a deal down the line should make it similarly affordable to the 9800X3D on a good day.
Pokdepinion: Not a big upgrade, but not a bad option for those who want the best of the best.
