Hi everyone, recently weβve received feedback that some unifi users, who are avid gamers, have had some problems accessing their favourite video game servers such as EA, Ubisoft and the PlayStation Network. Understandably, this has caused some frustration. pic.twitter.com/8AM6Hj7SsJβ unifi (@unifi) February 18, 2020
Recently, a number of users have reported that they have trouble accessing certain game servers. Given that this happened mostly with TM Unifi users, it appears as if the ISP has blocked access to these game servers. Some of the game servers include EA, Ubisoft, and PlayStation Network.
TM Unifi has finally issued a statement via their official Twitter account. Weβve included the full thread at the top of this post. The statement acknowledges the issues faced by their user base, along with the frustrations that come with it. However, there is a huge confusion on the matter and they tried to shed some light on it.
For starters, TM Unifi clarified that they βdo not block access to game serversβ.Β Furthermore, theyβve stated that they have no reason to do so, and that their network caters to the demands of gamers.
Our network comprises of 12 data centres, 20 submarine cables spanning the globe and over 560,000 kilometres of fibre optic cables to offer the best gaming experience for you. Our state-of-the-art network operations centre proactively monitors our network and continuously optimizes data routes to mitigate and eliminate congestions to further improve your gaming experience.
At the same time, weβre always adding the latest game consoles in our labs as part of our test program to find out how we can further optimize our network for the newest consoles. In addition, we have direct peering connections to some of the biggest game brands in the world.
All of that explanation could just sound like sweet whispers but it wouldnβt do a thing if youβre facing the problem. So what should you do now? For starters, itβs recommended to reach out directly to the game server provider and ask them to check. If that doesnβt work, TM recommends you to head over to the Unifi community, where users can help each other out especially on similar problems. There may already be a solution for it there.
As for users who have issues with the PSN Network Address Translation (NAT) configuration, theyβve already shared the solution in their community page. You can find the solution by clicking right here.
If you have more issues, and can confirm that itβs not a problem from the server provider, you are advised to reach out to TM on the matter as soon as possible.
Pokdepinion: My friends and family who are subscribed to TM Unifi arenβt facing the same issues. I am aware of a good number of people who are however. Iβm personally curious about it.
