A Number of PS5 Games Will Not Make It To the PS4 As Itβs βSimply Impossibleβ
With the PlayStation 5 coming up, we know that a number of PS4 games are expected to be playable and enhanced on the next gen platform. At the same time, many gamers are expecting PS5 games to also make its way to the PlayStation 4 as not everyone will be jumping ship just yet. This piece of news will shed some light on what we can expect in the future.
A Lot of PS5 Games Simply Canβt Work With the PS4
During the DualSense livestream with Geoff Keighley, Senior Vice President Marketing and Head of PlayStation Network Eric Lempel mentioned that they canβt bring PS5 games, at least a big number of them, to the PlayStation 4. The reason cited was because the games require new hardware and devices.
A big pillar of our company is innovation: itβs a pillar of Sony Corporation and itβs also a pillar of the PlayStation company. We are always trying to push the boundaries of play, we want to excite gamers and deliver new experiences. In many cases, we canβt take everyone with us from previous consoles because you need new hardware and devices.

It was also mentioned that they arenβt abandoning the PlayStation 4, just that some games like the upcoming Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart canβt be made for the PS4. This isnβt necessarily because of the lack of CPU and GPU power but rather new features that are built into the DualSense controller.
In other words, some games will require stronger hardware to run whereas other PS5 games will take advantage of new features for a better gaming experience. In these cases, itβs simply impossible to be made for the PlayStation 4.

Pokdepinion: Well, canβt say Iβm exactly surprised. If every next gen game could run on current gen hardware, it would limit the potential of next gen gaming as well. I just want all PS4 games to be compatible with the PS5 to make it worthwhile.
