Xiaomi is now third in terms of global smartphone shipments
Xiaomi has finally managed to climb to third place in terms of global smartphone monthly shipments in February 2020, leapfrogging over HUAWEI for the first time ever. HUAWEI shipped 5.5 million devices to Xiaomiβs 6 million, although it is worth noting that it is still a decline from January 2020βs numbers, with Xiaomi shipping 10 million smartphones and HUAWEI shipping 12.2 million devices in that period.
Xiaomi is still some ways away from second-ranking Apple, and its February 2020 shipments are less than a third of Samsungβs. Every major smartphone maker observed a softer market in the same period, which resulted in lower shipments across the board.
The HUAWEI P40βs launch this Thursday may bolster the sales figures for a bit, as it is expected to come with some impressive specifications, especially in the camera department. Of course, it wonβt be uncontested with Xiaomi finally set to release the Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro globally this week, while also launching their Redmi K30 Pro in China tomorrow.
However it goes without saying that March 2020βs shipment figures will definitely have taken a beating due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The soft market is expected to continue until we can finally overcome the COVID-19 virus.
Pokdepinion: I am truly excited to see how much will the Redmi K30 Pro boost Xiaomiβs numbers.
