Maxis pays TM RM88.50 for each 30 Mbps subscription?
Maxis latest 30 Mbps plans are insanely affordable. RM89 for 30 Mbps of unlimited fiber internet is really interesting. We all know Maxis is using TMβs High Speed Broadband (HSBB) fiber backbone, thus it was quite ironic that they managed to pull off such a package.
CIMB Research estimates that Maxis has to pay TM RM88.50 per subscription. Basically Maxis is not making any profit out of the new 30 Mbps subscribers. Maxisβ coverage is less than TMβs which means TM wonβt be going anywhere soon, but the main fiber Internet provider may want to revise their unifi plan for the lower income group.
Not only is TMβs RM79/month unifi plan capped to the same speed, it has a 60GB quota which Maxis doesnβt. Now I believe anyone would be willing to pay an extra of RM10 per month to enjoy unlimited quota. As of now, TMβs plans are all pricier than Maxisβ, even after taking the upcoming free upgrade into account.
Will TM react to Maxis, or just live off the money Maxis has to pay to use its fiber network?
