Celcom Axiata Announces New Company CEO – Next Phase of Transformation
With CEO Michael Kuehner stepping down soon, Celcom Axiata has announced a new CEO which will be taking over and leading the next phase of transformation.

There is a major change coming to Celcom Axiata Berhad soon. The current CEO, Michael Kuehner, will be stepping down on 31st August 2018 but the company has already decided on who will be taking over his role. Celcom Axiata has formally announced that starting 1st September 2018, Mohamad Idham Nawawi will be the company’s new CEO.
It is said that this move is part of their original plan from a couple of years ago to appoint an internal talent for the next phase of transformation. The board members believe Idham, current the Group Chief Corporate Officer, is the best man for the job due to his excellent management and operational experience with the company as well as his familiarity with their strategic directions, operations, and challenges.
For those of you who are not aware, Idham is an established telecommunications professional with over 25 years of business and operations experience within the telecommunications industry in Malaysia and the region. He has held various senior management and directorship positions with several international and local organizations, including multiple startups.
Idham is also responsible for leading the Transformation Program Office for Axiata 2.0 from 2012 to 2015, which saw the company expand beyond its core mobile business and into digital services and tower business.
Celcom Axiata also took a moment to express their gratitude to Michael Kuehner for his contributions to the company which helped turn into a modern, agile, and digital organization. With an emphasis on customer experience, his strategy helped achieve improvements in network quality, coverage, digitization, sales and distribution.
