Update: We mistakenly mentioned Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset as this smartphone’s chipset, which is incorrect – the non-Elite model, Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, powers the iQOO 15R. Amended article as follows.

iQOO has unveiled the iQOO 15R in Malaysia, serving as the budget offshoot of the iQOO 15 originally launched last December along with the debut of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, though this new model is powered by the non-Elite variant. Coupled with the Snapdragon is the Supercomputing Chip Q2 (as opposed to the Q3 found in the main model) that enables upscaling and frame generation up to 1.5K 144FPS in supported games.

The iQOO 15R comes equipped with a 7600mAh silicon-carbon battery with 100W fast charging support and bypass charging mode that supplies power directly to the components to reduce heat generation from charging batteries. Speaking of which, iQOO employs what it calls β€œ6.5K IceCore VC Cooling System” combined with a dual-layer graphite sheet to dissipate heat generated from internal components.

The smartphone’s display is a 6.59-inch 1.5K (2750 x 1260) β€œVM9” AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, 1800-nit HBM peak brightness, 5000-nit HDR peak brightness, and hardware-level eye protection features, while its cameras involve a 50MP Sony LYT-700V main camera and an 8MP sensor for ultrawide shots. On the connectivity side, iQOO says there’s a dedicated β€œNetwork Enhancement Chip” coupled with a new antenna design that improves signal performance in crowded areas or places with faint signals (i.e. elevators).

Now available nationwide, the iQOO 15R is available in mosaic-style β€œPixel Silver” and plain black β€œDark Knight” colors, with the 12GB+256GB variant priced at RM2,499, while the 12GB+512GB variant is priced at RM2,699.
