This is How Blizzard is Dealing with Overwatch Toxicity
OverwatchΒ has been in the hands of players for over a year, and while the game has garnered critical and commercial success, one of the more prevalent issues within the gameβs community, just like in any other popular online game, has been the prevalence of player toxicity. Blizzard Entertainment is looking to do something about it.
In a new developer update video from the studio,Β OverwatchΒ director Jeff Kaplan took the opportunity of the new video to address concerns around the βrising tide of toxicity or bad behavior in the game,β and explained how Blizzard is taking steps to addressing it, while also asking the community to step up in the same way.
Specifically, Kaplan explained that Blizzard has taken action against over 480,000 accounts inΒ OverwatchΒ as a result of poor player behavior or toxicity, with nearly 2/3 of that amount coming from players that have directly reported others players.
Kaplan explained that the console versions of the game do now have the same reporting tools that have been available on the gameβs PC version, but also took to being honest that βthere is not going to be a moment where we have a magic patch inΒ OverwatchΒ that makes bad behavior go away.β However, Kaplan expressed that βit is a continual process that we are very dedicated to fixing and improving.β
On that same note, Kaplan also took the time to address fans/the community at large in the hopes of having them βtake a deep look inward,β as he explained that the time that Blizzard has taken to curb toxic behavior in the game is also taking away time and resources from adding new content or improving the game in other ways since its release.
So for now, if youβre sick of the game being filled with toxicity and donβt want it to turn into some other popular online games, take a stand against it. If you donβt want to voice it out directly, report the players. Blizzard has begun taking action and taken these reports more seriously now.Β OverwatchΒ is available now for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Pokdepinion: Good to see that there has been actions taken to curb toxicity in Overwatch. Not being cancerous was what attracted me to the game at first but that is slowly changing. Do you part in keeping the community a clean, friendly environment for everyone to enjoy.
