POCO has announced the launch of its budget POCO M7 smartphone in Malaysia, the specs of which suggests that it shares some parts with another smartphone from its sister brand (and Xiaomiβs another sub-brand), Redmi 15, which was introduced just last week.
POCO M7 4G

For starters, the POCO M7 features a 7000mAh silicon-carbon battery and supports 33W fast charging along with 18W reverse charging; it also has a 6.9-inch FHD+ display with 144Hz refresh rate, and a camera setup consisting of one 50MP rear and one 8MP front shooter. All of the specs listed thus far are highly similar, if not outright identical to that of the aforementioned Redmi smartphone.
That said, there is a distinct difference between the two models sold here in Malaysia β the chipset. Globally, both the POCO M7 and Redmi 15 have 4G and 5G versions, but in Malaysiaβs case, the POCO smartphone is the 4G model, while the Redmi is 5G-capable. The lack of 5G on POCOβs part is due to its Qualcommβs Snapdragon 685 chipset, though it still gets paired with up to 8GB RAM and up to 256GB of storage, with microSD card support for up to 2TB.
Available in Silver, Blue, and Black, the POCO M7 is now on sale in Malaysia through Xiaomiβs official website, along with official POCO stores on Shopee and Lazada in 6GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB variants, priced at RM499 and RM599 respectively.
Pokdepinion: If 5G isnβt needed, this is likely a better deal over the Redmi 15.
