You’ve heard of the β€œnew car smell”, now how about β€œnew laptop smell”? That’s what ASUS is set out to do with its new laptop called adol Book 14 Air Fragrance Edition (a豆14 Airι¦™ζ°›η‰ˆ) exclusively released in China. It currently sells for RMB 6,999, or roughly RM4,400 under the pre-order period (though the launch price indicates RMB 8,199, or approximately RM5,170).

Fragrance-infused ASUS Laptop

This laptop was the result of collaboration between ASUS China and Anna Sui, a New York-based fashion company from its namesake, which produces fragrance products as well. On paper, this is essentially a Vivobook S 14 OLED with a Chinese-specific branding (a common occurrence), with an AMD Ryzen 9 8945H processor paired with 32GB of RAM and 1TB SSD storage. Unlike the global model, however, it does come with a 2.8K OLED display with 100% DCI-P3 color gamut support.

The selling point of this particular variant comes from the lid of the laptop, where it houses a circular-shaped, magnetically-attached fragrance dispenser that users can swap to the fragrance of their choosing, which comes in three options. That aside, the laptop comes with a distinct lavender color with unique design cues, and the bundle comes with similarly-themed laptop bag, wireless mouse, and an actual fragrance bottle, among other things.

All things considered, this is still a reasonably-priced laptop despite coming with extra add-ons that certainly will cost extra on top of the laptop itself – it’s just too bad that you probably couldn’t buy one of these outside of China.

Pokdepinion: That certainly works as a conversation starter though.
