Vivo Malaysia Launches the Vivo V5s

At a launch event in Berjaya Times Square, Vivo Malaysia has officially launched Vivo V5s smartphone. The company claims that it is theΒ selfie-focused smartphone that will give you the perfect selfie experience that you have always dreamed about.

Said to be the Perfect Selfie smartphone, the Vivo V5s smartphone is focused on its front camera. Itβs powered by a 20 megapixel Sony IMX376 sensor with f/2.0 aperture, along with an updated version of their Selfie Softlight feature. For those of you who arenβt aware, the selfie softlight mimics the studio lighting effect to create a more balanced lighting on your face.
Vivoβs Oversea Product Manager, Winton Wu, said:
The V5sβs 20MP front camera provides consumers with a fabulous selfie experience, earning itself a reputation as the phone choice for selfie enthusiasts. Every day, more than 10 million selfies around the globe are shot on the V5.

Another thing Vivo Malaysia noted on is the Face Beauty 6.0 feature. It has been fine-tuned based on research from approximately a thousand users. It has the ability to tailor solutions to your individual skin condition and facial features. Yes, you donβt have to rely on those automated systems that might make you look like an alien. You can customize the effect to your liking and it should work well for most people.
Theyβve also added the Group Selfie feature to the Vivo V5s smartphone. Not only will you be able to capture a group selfie in portrait mode, you can also do it with panoramic landscape panning effects up close. This way, you donβt have to squeeze everyone in to get into the shot.

The rear camera is powered by a 13-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture. It has Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) and LED flash. You can even take multiple shots and make up a 52 megapixel Ultra HD photo with it.
The Vivo V5s has a 5.5-inch HD screen that is protected with a 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass. The body measures in at 153.8 x 75.5 x 7.55mm, and weighs a mere 154 grams.Thereβs also a fingerprint sensor on the front of the device, which Vivo Malaysia claims to be able to unlock your device in 0.2 seconds.
The device will be powered by the Mediatek MT6750 octa-core chipset with Mali-T860 MP2 GPU. It has 4GB of RAM and 64GBs of internal storage (please donβt call it ROM). You can expand the storage capacity further, up to 256GBs, via microSD. Vivo Malaysia also assures that the deviceβs 3,000 mAH battery will be enough to have the device running for at least a full day.
The Vivo V5s is running on FunTouch OS 3.0, which is a customized Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS. For those who are into entertainment, it has a built-in AK4376 DAC. This means that you can expect high-quality audio playback on the device. On the connectivity side, it has dual SIM, supports 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and 3.5mm audio jack.
After the success of the Vivo V5 smartphone, Datoβ Siti Nurhaliza is now named the ambassador of Vivo.Β Another highlight of the event unfolded when Joyce Chu was announced as the new ambassador for the Vivo V5s. Vivo will be organizing various activities featuring the newly appointed Vivo selfie icon for the next 3 months.

The Vivo V5s will come in 3 colour options: Matte Black, Gold, and Rose Gold. It will be available for pre-order startingΒ 3rd May, 2017 with a retail price of RM1,299 (inclusive of GST). The Vivo V5s will officially go on sale in Malaysia on 10th May, 2017.

Pokdepinion: Well, canβt say we werenβt expecting this. Vivo Malaysia has been heavily hinting about this particular device after all. It seems theyβre really going full force on this whole selfie thing. I would personally be interested in the device for vlogging purposes but to each their own. Now, we canβt vouch for Vivoβs claims until weβve reviewed it ourselves so stay tuned for that.
