MSI Launches VR-ready workstations; Harnessing the power of Nvidia Quadro GPUs
MSI announced three monstrous workstation laptops today β the MSI WT73VR, MSI WE72VR and the MSI WS63. These workstation laptops are targetted at 3D modellers and animators, especially those who want to venture into the Virtual Reality segment of the market. Running on Intel Kaby Lake CPUs, fused with Nvidiaβs Quadro GPUs, these workstation are meant to deliver performance beyond imagination, while maintaining sleek profile.
MSI WT73VR (7RM 642MY)
Top of the line is the MSI WT73VR, which is a humongous 18β³ beast, posingΒ a 17.3β³ display. Itβs a powerhouse running on Intel Core i7 7820K processor to begin with. It has a 17.3β³ Full HD IPS Display which projects the output from an Nvidia Quadro P5000 GPU that has 16GB of GDDR5 VRAM. It comes withΒ 32GB of DDR4 RAM and has a Super Raid 4Β setup. What is Super Raid 4, you ask? It couplesΒ 512GB M.2 NVMe SSD configured in Raid0Β withΒ 1TB 7200rpm HDD for superior Read/Write speeds. MSI also didnβt loosen the throttle on itβs audio which features a 2 xΒ Dynaudio speakersΒ with an additionalΒ woofer. Additionally, it has a Thunderbolt 3 port for fast external data transfer. To spice things up, MSI has integrated a SteelSeries RGB backlit keyboard and provides 3 years peace-of-mind warranty to the buyers.
The WT73VR is a VR-ready machine, capable of running some of the heaviest 3D designing and rendering applications ensuring smooth performance and immersive experience. Of course, this beast is not expected to be something that everyone of us can afford. Itβs priced at RM24,999 which is kinda expected if you just look at the specsheet.
MSI WS63 (7RK 402MY)
Up next among the siblings is the MSI WS63 which is another monster, packed in a smaller shell. Delivering output on a 15.6β³ FHD IPS Display, the WS63 is running onΒ Intel Core i7 7700HQ processor together with a smaller yet powerfulΒ Nvidia Quadro P3000 GPU that boastsΒ 6GB of GDDR5Β VRAM. It comes withΒ 16GB of DDR4 RAM, half of itβs elder brother. For storage,Β a smaller but equally fastΒ 128GB M.2 NVMe SSD andΒ 1TB 7200rpm HDD are residing under the hood. It hasΒ 2 speakers andΒ Thunderbolt 3 port as well. As you can see, it also has a SteelSeries RGB backlit keyboard to make work fun.
The WS63 is priced at RM12,899 and also comes with 3 years peace-of-mind warranty.
MSI WE72VR (7RJ 1039MY)
The youngest of all is the MSI WE72VR, a toned down version of itβs elder sibling. Also bearing a 17.3β³ FHD IPS Display, the WE72VR is running onΒ Intel Core i7 7700HQ processor coupled withΒ Nvidia Quadro M2200 GPU that hasΒ 4GB of GDDR5 VRAM. It comes withΒ 8GB of DDR4 RAM and has 128GB M.2 NVMe SSD mated with aΒ 1TB 7200rpm HDD. Audio is channelled through 4 xΒ Dynaudio speakersΒ with an additionalΒ woofer. It also didnβt settle less on its looks, as it, too has aΒ SteelSeries RGB backlitΒ keyboard and comes with 3 years peace-of-mind warranty.
The WE72VR is also VR-ready machine and it priced at RM9,699.
VR Meet Up with Malaysia Local Partners
MSI Malaysia Notebook also invited all the VR professionals to provide aΒ glimpse of what they are doing, what they have been doing and what are they expecting in the VR industry. Present was MSIΒ hardware partner, Nvidia Quadroβs Technical Marketing Manager, telling how to get the right GPU for professionals. Also present was MSIΒ software partner, AUTODESKβs Solutions Specialist to shareΒ how their software, can let you literally step into your design, making your work into reality. Furthermore, MSIΒ also invited some local VR industry pioneer, for example, Altum VRβs Project Director, whoΒ have developed their own VR real estate content and they shared how VR benefits the property industry. MSIΒ also invited the founder of VR Lab, whoΒ explained why VR Lab chooses VR as the future industry to invest. Last but not the least, Streamline Studioβs Chief Producer, being one of the biggest game developments and designing studios in Asia, excitedly introduced the VR game development in South East Asia.
