HONOR MagicBook X 16 Unboxing and First Impressions
We recently received a unit of the new HONOR MagicBook X 16 for review. While weβre testing it, hereβs our unboxing and first impressions of the ultraportable laptop.
Unboxing the HONOR MagicBook X 16
The HONOR MagicBook X 16 came in a standard brown cardboard box with the brandβs logo in the center. Weβre not sure if this was done intentionally for recyclability or not but it is something. Inside the box, you will find the following items:
- Power cable
- 65W Charging brick
- User guide
- Warranty card
- The HONOR MagicBook X 16 laptop itself
First Impressions of the HONOR MagicBook X 16
The HONOR MagicBook X 16 is a sturdily built, lightweight productivity laptop thanks to its all-metal aluminum alloy build. You might not think much from the HONOR brand but this is certainly a premium laptop, at least in terms of build and feel.
One thing I find very interesting is that itβs a 16-inch laptop with a 16:10 aspect ratio and still manages to be really light, at just 1.75kg. It has an 89% screen-to-body ratio, meaning the bezels are minimal, and is said to provide 100% sRGB colour gamut with 300 nits brightness (typical). This could make it an ideal laptop for creatives doing visual work.
In case you werenβt aware, itβs powered by the 12th Gen Intel Core CPU, with our review unit being the i5-1235U variant but thereβs also the i7-1255U variant if you want something a little stronger. You donβt get discrete graphics but you do have the Intel Iris Xe Graphics, which works pretty decently, especially with an optimized RAM configuration.
While we have yet to try it, we were told about the new HONOR Connect, which lets you βintelligently connectβ to other HONOR devices. In fact, you can clone your replacement laptop via wireless transmission to make migrating to a new system a seamless experience, with speeds up to 70MB/s.
