Maxis Clarifies on Hotlink Postpaid Plan Speed Cap Confusion
Not long ago, a Hotlink brochure made its way to the internet detailing what could possibly be a new postpaid plan. There was a bit of a confusion as it had “high speed internet up to 30Mbps” highlighted, showing what could be a Hotlink Postpaid plan speed cap. Well, turns out it’s not actually true and Maxis has chimed in with a response.
Hotlink Postpaid Plan Speed Cap Confusion
As reported by SoyaCincau, Maxis stated that there is no Hotlink Postpaid plan speed cap placed. Furthermore, users can actually get more than 30Mbps speed depending on coverage and signal strength of its 4G network at the time. The 30Mbps listed in the brochure refers to Fibre internet plan being bundled together for RM99 per month.
Apart from that, Maxis also reiterated that they don’t have plans to revamp their existing Hotlink Postpaid plans. The ones listed in the brochure are already available with ongoing add-on passes such as RM10 for additional 10GB mobile data.
In case you weren’t aware, Hotlink Postpaid has a base plan which starts at RM30 per month and includes unlimited calls, SMS, and 1GB mobile data. With an RM10 add-on, you will get an extra 10GB mobile data quota while another RM10 (RM20 add-on total) will get you an extra 20GB mobile data quota instead.
The good news here is that there is no such Hotlink Postpaid plan speed cap in place. The positioning of the “fast internet up to 30Mbps” may have played a role in the confusion but regardless, it’s still pretty fast anyway. Assuming it’s consistent enough, you can easily stream 4K Ulltra HD content on services like Netflix and YouTube.
Pokdepinion: If they actually did put in a speed cap, I’m fine as long as they don’t put it any lower in the future. I’m sure many consumers feel the same way.
