New NVIDIA Freestyle Feature Announced
During NVIDIAβs CES press conference, the graphics card manufacturer announced new features for itsΒ GeForce ExperienceΒ client starting January 29th 2018.
Shadowplay HighlightsΒ will be supported by 4 new games, including Epic GamesβΒ Fortnite Battle Royale.Β TheΒ AnselΒ feature got a new UI, and 8 new filters have been added, alongside the ability to mix different filters. Speaking of filters, arguably the most interesting feature being mentioned here is NVIDIAΒ Freestyle, a feature which lets you apply post-process filters to supported games while you play via theΒ GeForce ExperienceΒ overlay.
This includes 15 different filters with 38 presets, including dramatic ones like HDR. You can findΒ the list of supported gamesΒ here and a list of filters below.

Itβs definitely interesting, as itβs implemented at a driver level, and does the job for which you used to need cumbersome injectors. Some interesting settings include a dedicated mode for that will help colorblind players see a clearer picture and a Night Mode that reduces blue similar to what is built into mobile phones. Itβll basically let you sleep easier after gaming all night.
In order to get the new features, youβll need to downloadΒ the new version ofΒ Geforce ExperienceΒ (3.12) and the new NVIDIA driver (release 390), when they become available on January 9th 2018. Youβll also need to activate the βExperimental Featuresβ option inΒ GeForce Experienceβs settings.
Be sure to check out the trailer for the new NVIDIA Freestyle feature to get a better understanding. In case you missed it, NVIDIA also unveiled a 65-inch G-Sync-capable 120 Hz 4K HDR monitor. It sounds amazing, and a bit of a tongue twister to say, I know, but if youβre curious about the display, click here to find out.
Pokdepinion: Well, this is rather interesting. I mean, itβs gonna be weird to view games in a way thatβs not meant to be presented but enhancing on the other hand is gonna be awesome. Canβt wait to try out the new NVIDIA Freestyle feature.
