Apple introduced a new generation AirTag today, though it has the exact same name as before. Itβs not named βAirTag 2β, and the company only occasionally refers to the new version as βAirTag (2nd generation)β, so itβs all a bit confusing naming-wise. Either way, the new tracker retains the same look as before, but comes with new upgrades internally.
New Apple AirTag

The updated AirTag features a second-generation Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip β the same as the iPhone 17 series, Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Apple Watch Series 11 β which extends Precision Finding distance by up to 50% compared to the previous model, while an upgraded Bluetooth chip increases general detection range. Good news for Apple Watch users: Precision Finding is now supported on compatible models (Series 9 / Ultra 2 or newer), so users can locate items right from their wrist.
Beeps are now 50% louder too, thanks to redesigned internal structure that allows the alerts to be heard from up to twice the previous distance. As before, AirTag taps into the Find My network that uses virtually all compatible iPhones, iPads and Macs in the world to help locate objects far beyond the immediate signal range; the battery uses a standard CR2032 coin cell form factor that is user-replaceable, with a claimed βmore than a yearβ of runtime. In terms of ingress protection, itβs rated at IP67 β good enough to withstand short-term liquid submersions.

The new AirTag will be available in Malaysia at RM129 for a single unit and RM429 for a four-pack through Appleβs online (with free engraving available) and retail channels. Apple notes that existing accessories (i.e. FineWoven Key Ring at RM179) will continue to work with this new version, as there are no physical changes made on the updated model.
Pokdepinion: Iterative upgrade, though solid nonetheless.
