GIGABYTE has announced a new external GPU (eGPU), this time the AORUS RTX 5060 Ti AI BOX featuring the mid-range NVIDIA Blackwell GPU. Specifically, it’s the full-fat RTX 5060 Ti 16GB variant with 180W TGP, 2572MHz boost clock, and connects via the Thunderbolt 5 interface.

Given that the GPU involved is a modest unit, the enclosure better fits the definition of “compact and lightweight” with its 243.7 x 117.4 x 48.2 mm footprint and 955g weight. It also comes with a magnetic stand that supports vertical placement, though it can be placed horizontally like a PS5 console. For cooling, GIGABYTE uses a redesigned fan configuration, composite copper heat pipes, a direct-contact copper plate, and “server-grade thermal conductive gel” applied to VRAM and VRM components to maintain thermals and noise levels.
In addition to the GPU, the AI BOX functions as an external I/O hub with additional connectivity options. These include Thunderbolt 5 (one from PC, one to peripheral), Ethernet (unspecified speed, presumably Gigabit), with HDMI 2.1b and three DisplayPort 2.1b support for up to four external displays, and multiple USB ports. The Thunderbolt 5 upstream port can also supply 100 watts of power for keeping lightweight laptops charged whilst utilizing the GPU’s resources. The eGPU itself uses a 330-watt external power supply to provide power to both the GPU and the connected laptop.
GIGABYTE says the AORUS RTX 5060 Ti AI BOX is now available for preorders in Malaysia at a retail price of RM3,599.
