Another AMD graphics card has appeared out of nowhere, and this one is a pretty unique model. Officially designated β€œRadeon RX 9060 XT LPβ€œ, this is reportedly a China-only model that shares identical specifications as the regular RX 9060 XT 16GB, except for the β€œLP” part which stands for β€œLow Power”.

AMD Quietly Introduces Radeon RX 9060 XT 'LP', Which Stands For 'Low Power'

Here’s a quick refresher in case you forgot the specs of the original Radeon RX 9060 XT: this GPU is based on Navi 44 XT silicon which contains 32 compute units (2048 stream processors), with the option of 8GB and 16GB VRAM that each feature slightly different TBP limit. The 16GB version is the one we’re comparing against as the LP variant is exclusively a 16GB model – in which case, the original version has a 182W TBP, while the LP version cuts that down to 140W.

In fact, AMD does list the theoretical performance of its models using the TFLOPS metric, and it turns out the RX 9060 XT LP is rated at exactly 25 TFLOPS of compute performance (measured at FP32), only losing 0.6 TFLOPS to the original card despite a substantial power limit reduction. While the GPU maker didn’t specify the clock speed of this model, some napkin math through the differences in TFLOPS figures equates to around 3.05GHz boost clock (from the 3.13GHz of the original model).

Still, that still doesn’t account for Radeon RX 9060 XT LP’s gaming performance, which AMD uses a separate β€œgame clock” metric for – hence, the exact difference in gaming performance is still mostly a question mark. Should AMD release this model outside of OEM designs, expect some models to use single-fan configuration for space savings, which is useful for small form factor (SFF) PCs. At this time however, no presence of this card has been known outside of China, but that may change in the coming months if the official listing of this model in its website is anything to go by.
