Microsoft PC Manager’s Definition Of Repairing Apparently Means Switching To Bing Search

You read the title – welcome to the latest episode of Ways Microsoft Attempts To Shove Bing Into Everyone’s Throats, Whether They Like It Or Not. This discovery is made by Windows Latest, where the outlet witnessed what is an audacious attempt by the technology giant to convince you your PC is broken if it’s not using Bing Search.

In the screenshot provided, under the ‘Repair Tips’ tab of the PC Manager app, the app suggests to users that they should “reset start page to new tab page and search engine to Bing” for the Microsoft Edge browser if it detects the browser running on different new tab page or search engines. The language used here to convince less tech-savvy users to believe that anything outside of Bing is “broken” is certainly an attempt, and a misleading one at that.

Of course, this is far from the first time that Microsoft has attempted many different tactics (often sneaky) to force Windows users to use its services. In my opinion, this is certainly the most egregious attempt made by Microsoft thus far, and we all know this kind of move isn’t stopping anytime soon.

PC Manager shenanigans aside – for all the Windows 11 users out there, maybe try this app if you’re sick of all the service upsells and ads scattered across the operating system.
