ChatGPT No Longer Requires An Account, Although Features Are Limited
Since the introduction of OpenAIβs ChatGPT chatbot last year, anyone who wants to give it a try will be asked to create an account. While the process is free, some people have privacy concerns especially when it comes to providing specific information. Earlier this week, OpenAI announced that the chatbot will be open for everyone to use β no accounts required.
The company says it is rolling out this change βgraduallyβ β while users can access the chatbot without an account, it is noted that OpenAI may use it as the training data. However, users can turn this off, even without an account. For this tier of users, additional guardrails have been implemented, though the company didnβt specify which, aside from saying βa wider range of categories.β
To access the chatbot, simply head to chat.openai.com, where youβll be greeted in the same interface as those with accounts logged in. For those with accounts, ChatGPT offers more features including chat history, share chats, and more. They can also opt for a paid subscription upgrade to access the more advanced GPT models.
