More Details Of Intel Core i9-14900KS Revealed

Intel’s not-so-secret Core i9-14900KS has been leaked on multiple occasions, so anyone familiar in the tech circle has a good idea of how the new chip will perform by now. Still, more leaks have surfaced anyway – this time around it’s the packaging, plus some of the silicon’s characteristics that have been revealed.

Let’s talk about the packaging first, of which we mean there isn’t much of a change to begin with. Intel’s 14th Gen is more or less the same thing as the 13th Gen (with the only major differentiator being software-based APO), so naturally we’re looking at the box that remains virtually unchanged from its predecessor, aside from the “Special Edition” wordmark placed differently on the box.

As for the silicon itself, screenshots from an ASUS motherboard BIOS have revealed the clock speeds of the Core i9-14900KS. The image tells us that the silicon is running at 6.2GHz, the alleged max boost speed, at three of its eight P-Cores; which took the CPU nearly 1.5V of voltage to run it. We can’t verify if this is the required voltage to operate (nor if this is already an overclock on top of the pre-binned silicon), as any silicon running at a voltage this high is certainly going to shorten its lifespan over the long term.

In any case, this CPU isn’t aimed at regular consumers – like the predecessors before it, this chip is aimed at Intel enthusiasts, and more importantly, overclockers. Expect new overclocking records when Team Blue eventually releases this CPU to the market, which should be pretty soon.
